UIT ELECTION COMMISSION:

                      Notice of Ute Tribe Elections

Pursuant to Ordinance 13-006 as amended, notice is hereby given that the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation will hold an election to fill the expiring terms of the following members of the Ute Tribal Business Committee:

               Incumbents: Tony Small, Uncompahgre Band

             Luke Duncan, Whiteriver Band

            Sal Wopsock, Uintah Band

NOMINATIONS:

Each eligible voter may write in the name of the (1) eligible nominee, whom the voter would like to have representing his or her band on the Business Committee for the period of 4 years. Nominations will be on March 10, 2021 from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM and conclude March 30, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Ute Tribal Auditorium.

PRIMARY ELECTIONS:

The Primary Election will be held on April 20, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The purpose of the election is to give the (2) candidates from the list of eligible nominees from the nomination period representing: Uncompahgre, Uintah and Whiteriver Band (s).

GENERAL ELECTION:

The General Election will be held on May 4, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes from each band in the General Election shall represent the Uncompahgre, Uintah and Whiteriver bands on the Ute Tribe Business Committee for the term of 2021-2025.

ELIGIBLE NOMINEE:

Any member of the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation twenty-one (21) years of age, who has maintained a residence within the boundaries of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation for a period of one (1) year preceding the election, shall be entitled to vote and hold office.

POLLING PLACES AND TIME:

The polls will be open from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the Fort Duchesne Community Building, Myton Community Building, Randlett Community Building and the Whiterocks Community Building on April 20, 2021 and May 4, 2021.

ABSENTEE VOTERS:

An eligible voter who qualifies to vote by absentee (Pursuant to Ordinance 13-006, Article IV, Section A, Part 2.) may REQUEST an absentee ballot for the Primary Election starting Friday April 9, 2021 at 8:30 AM, and ending April 19, 2021 no later than 4:00 PM. The Election Commission will start accepting absentee ballots for the General Election on April 30, 2021 at 8:30 AM and ending May 3, 2021 at no later than 4:00 p.m. ALL ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL BE RECEIVED AT THE UTE TRIBAL AUDITORIUM.

NOTICE OF ELECTION RESULTS:

The Election Commission shall post the results of the Primary Election on April 21, 2021. The General Election results shall be posted on May 4, 2021 at an conspicuous location in the communities designated as polling places. The Election Commission shall deliver the results of the General Election to the Tribal Business

Committee on May 6, 2021.

"It is unlawful for any person to harass, intimidate or attempt to harass or intimidate an election official of the Tribe or voter of the Tribe attempting to cast his or her ballot. Persons found to have harassed, intimidated or to have attempted to harass or intimidate an election official or voter may be imprisoned for a term not to exceed 6 months and ordered to pay a fine not to exceed $500.00"

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:

COVID-19 Update: As of Today the Ute Indian Tribe has zero 0 active cases, 344 recovered, and 3 deaths. Even though we have a low case count, COVID-19 pandemic is not over. We must continue to be vigilant, and take precautions by wearing your masks, social distancing, and washing your hands frequently.

If you received your COVID-19 vaccination on April 13 & 15, 2021, it is time for you to make an appointment with IHS (435) 725-6815 to get your booster shot. If you haven’t gotten your COVID-19 vaccination, make an appointment to get one at the earliest convenience. CDC regulations require individuals who haven’t received the vaccination to wear your masks in public at all times, to protect yourself and the people around you.

 

UTE INDIAN TRIBE FISH & WILDLIFE:

The Big Game Applications are available they will be accepted April 5 through May 27, 2021. Feel free to come by the Fish and Wildlife office to pick up a Big Game Application or your Turkey Permits.

UIT HOUSING PROGRAM:

The Ute Tribe Housing Program is looking for contractors to provide our tribal members with affordable custom built homes, please provide floor plans for 3,4,5 bedroom homes must include all appliances and central air.

- Must be able to get a UTERO License (Ute Tribe Employment Rights Office).

Please submit your bids to the Tribal Housing program located at the tribal office 6964 east 1000 south (2 miles south of Bottle Hollow) Deadline is June 30, 2021@4:30pm.

IHS CLINIC:

PFIZER WILL CONTINUE TO BE GIVEN AT THE U&O IHS WELLNESS CENTER BY APPOINTMENT ONLY ON WEDNESDAYS FROM 2 to 4 PM. Call 435-725-6815 to schedule your appointment.  

Drive through COVID testing is still being provided daily by appointment only at the U&O IHS Clinic.

 

UIT FISH AND WILDLIFE PARKS:

Appliance Round Up starting Monday may 3rd, 2021. UIT Fish and Wildlife Parks program will be going around helping elders and those who need assistance removing old appliance, washers, dryers, fridges etc. Call (435-722-5511) we will need your contact information, location and what is needing to be picked up. If you would like to drop your appliances off the Bottle Hollow Marina will be opened Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

 

PAINTED HORSE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM:

If you are requesting transportation to a medical appointment out of the area, you will need to provide documentation of your appointment.  We will need your name, appointment date and time and the location of the appointment.  We have to provide documentation when requesting travel authorization.  All personal health information will be omitted.  Please notify the Medical driver’s to schedule your transport as soon as you can to allow for ample time to get transportation approved.  You can call the drivers direct line at 725-4998.  If no one answers, leave your name, call back number, appointment date and time and location of appointment. A driver will call you back to confirm your information.

 

HEAD START:

2021-2022 Drive Thru Registration Day. May 12th-13th from 1-4 PM & May 19th-20th from 1-4 Pm. We will have applications ready to be filled out or bring your already filled out application with you. Bring child’s birth certificate, immunization record, & 12month income. (EX: 1040, 12 month check stub, W2, food stamp report, TANF report, and/or child support.)

 

WATER SETTLEMENT DEPARTMENT:

The Ute Agriculture Will not no longer be selling hay.  No exceptions.  The CO-OP will be taking Applications for CO-OP you can enter the building in the back applications will be in the door The Water Settlement is taking applications for fencing At the Water Settlement building.  If they have any questions they can call the office (435) 722-3136 Ext 4231

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT:

Food & Hygiene Pantry Is Now Open. All communities’ members are welcome. Please share if you know any individuals are in need of supplies. We are also still accepting donations to maintain and serve the community! The pantry is located in the breeze way of the Education Department office. The Pantry is open during regular business hours Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm. For questions or concerns call Melissa Taveapont (435-725-4062) for more information about the drive.

 

FARMERS FEEDING UTAH:

You’re invited to the early distribution of the Farmers Feeding Utah Distribution Event to get a box of fresh food. Just Drive Through, stay in your car and the food will be loaded into your vehicle. This will take place May 19, 2021 4:30 – 5:30 pm general public 5:30 – 7:30 pm food available while supplies last. Location: Duchesne County Centennial Event Center 60 W 400 S.

 

ALCOHOL / SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM:

UIT HOUSING AUTHORITY:

This is a public notice that the Ute Indian Housing Authority is officially initiating its Emergency Rental Assistance Program. This program is open to all Ute Indian Tribal members who are currently renting, on or off the reservation. Applications can be picked up and turned in at our main office.
