UTE NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF

EMERGENCEY MANAGEMENT:

As of Today, the Ute Indian Tribe is operating in the moderate level of COVID-19, since the beginning of the vaccination stage. Maderna vaccinations will be available for all community members 18 and over at the Fort Duchesne Community Building, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 and Thursday, February 25, 2021 from the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Those who have received the vaccinations on January 26th & 28th, now is the time for you to receive your second booster shot. We also ask that you wear your masks and continue to wash or sanitize often, and social distance in public places.

 

SENIOR CITIZENS DEPT:

Applications are still available for those who are 55 thru 79 for heating assistance, this will be the last week to receive.  Please have them in by the end of the day this Thursday the 25th. (2-25-21). Also, a reminder to check your levels on your propane tanks, please do not wait until you are at 15 % to request services to refill your tanks. With colder temperatures we ask that you leave your faucets running to a drip to prevent pipes from freezing. Leave your thermostat at 70-71 degrees to prevent high gas or power billing. UIT CHR:

Community Health Representatives Area rotation for February, & March 2021

NATURAL RESOURCE DEPARTMENT:

At this time, the Natural Resource Department would like all tribal membership who required an Agriculture/Home site Assignment to please call and provide a current mailing address and phone number. Please feel free to contact the Resource office @ (435-725-4825) or (435-725-4838)

 

IHS CLINIC:

Drive – Thru Covid-19 Testing, Tuesday & Wednesday, 9AM-10AM. Thursdays 1:30 To 2:30 PM. It is recommended to make an appointment for COVID testing so the lab order can be made before you arrive. Location is the Ambulance Doors.

Drive – Thru Flu Shots, Monday & Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment needed for Flu Shots. Everyone should get a Flu Shot ASAP because you will not be able to get the Covid-19 shot at the same time. Location is Wellness Center Parking Lot (JIWC)

 

LIHEAP:

The Ute Tribe LIHEAP application is now available on the Ute Tribe website utetribe.com you will find it under departments/LIHEAP.  Please share with others whom may need assistance.

 

WATER SYSTEMS:

Due to current weather conditions they are asking that water be left running with a slow drip to prevent water lines from freezing. They’ve been experiencing a lot of service calls due to frozen water.

PAINTED HORSE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM:

The Notah Begay Foundation Is Closed. They are now accepting applications for Garden Box Project.  They have 25 new slots available. You will still need to fill out an application and plant list if you are a current garden participant.  They will be giving out cold season seeds to their current gardeners if they want to grow radishes, lettuce, spinach, carrots and cauliflower.  If you need an application please stop by there office, email at cassandram@utetribe.com or shayw@utetribe.com or give them a call @ 725-4912.

 

WATER SETTLEMENT DEPARTMENT:

Hay sales on Tuesday and Fridays Only. Average Weight is 3 Bales 1 Ton.

First Crop: $30.00 Second Crop: $45.00 Third Crop: $45.00 First Crop Grass: $30.00

Second Crop Grass: $45.00. Tribal Members are limited to 18 Bales = 7 Tons per Month.

No Semi Loads. No Holds must be picked up at time of service. Tribal member must be present of time of sale and have valid Tribal I.D. For any questions you can call there office @ (435-722-3136) or call Clark Jones @ (435-823-7433)

 

UTE LAND TRUST:

Practice your Ute Language. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday @ 6PM.

UINTAH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL:

ACT test date will be coming up soon. This will be for juniors only! The schedule goes as followed please read carefully: 9th -10th grade classes will be held March 10th and 11th for this week. 11th -12th grade classes will be held March 8th and 9th respectively.

The ACT® test will be administered to 11th grade students during the regular school day. Students will be receiving the nontesting information the week of February 22, 2021 The ACT test date is as follows. March 9, 2021 Paper-based testing The ACT test includes multiple-choice tests in English, Reading, Mathematics, and Science, Please make sure your student arrives promptly on testing day to ensure a successful testing experience. For more information about The ACT, contact the school @ (435-725-4088). Doors Close at 8:25AM. Students who arrive after will not be allowed to take the test.

 

ALCOHOL / SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM:

A kindly reminder that the following should NOT go into the Ute Tribal Garbage bins or dumpster. We operate compacting trash trucks and these items will ruin Sanitation Equipment:
