REMINDER: ROAD IS CLOSED ON THE EAST SIDE OF WHITEROCKS, DUE TO THE BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION.

 

UP-DATE FROM THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT:

Volunteer: there will be a meeting held at the Ft. Duchesne Gym, Tuesday July 2, at 5:30 pm.

We will be going over the upcoming 2019 Tri-Ute Games. If there are any questions please call the Recreation Office @ 722-2249.

 

ATTENTION: PARENTS OF SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENTS:

There will not be transportation for the 4th thru 8th grades. On Wednesday, July 3rd.

UPDATE FROM THE UTE LANGUAGE CLASS:

Ute Language will to held this evening at 5:00 pm. Held at the Whiterocks Community Building.

This is for beginners to advanced, everyone is invited to participate. Come and learn and practice speaking as we learn our language from May Mountain, Elders and fluent speakers in our communities.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS, U&O AGENCY:

NO CURRENT FIRE RESTRICTIONS, UINTAH AND OURAY INDIAN RESERVATION.

Currently there are no burning ordinances or policies in place for the Ute Indian Tribe or the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In times of critical burning conditions, both entities will issue a joint FIRE RESTRICTION for Tribal lands.

Currently NO FIRE RESTRICTION are in place (as of 06/21/2019)

Camp fires are permitted at this time. If camping use fire rings, while having a camp fire, please have a shovel, water and adult supervision. Double check your fire is dead out before leaving the area.

THIS PERTAINS TO ONLY TRIBAL LANDS ON THE U&O RESERVATION

We ask that if you are planning on conduction (on your own) a yard clean-up.

Please plan on monitoring your burn at all times, an adult must be present until the burn is extinguished. Be aware of the weather, winds are common in the afternoon. Have tools and a water source readily available during your burn.

We also need to know the following:

Date: Time of burning: Contact phone number: Locations of burn (street address, GPS coordinates):

If you choose to burn you are the responsible party. If BIA Forestry or a Fire Department is dispatched and show up on your burn we will extinguish the fire. You may also be liable for all related suppression costs.

To report a wildland fire please call:

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE UTE TRIBE FISH AND WILDLIFE PARKS DEPARTMENT:

Ute Tribe and Wildlife Parks Department would like to remind everyone please stay away from all the rivers at this time, the rivers are running high, fast and very cold. It only takes a couple of minutes to get hypothermia, cold water will also shock your body faster than hypothermia. Watch your surrounding near the rivers.

We want everyone to have safe summer.

Is coming to Roosevelt Uinta Theatre on Friday, June 28th, movie starts at 7:30 pm.

The movie is about a Recounting the remarkable journey of Saul Indian Horse, an Ojibway child torn from his family and placed in one of the most notorious Canadian Catholic residential schools.

The Executive Producer: Clint Eastwood.

UPDATE FROM UTE TRIBE HEAD START PROGRAM:

Ute Indian Tribe is offering Fatherhood/Motherhood is Sacred Classes. Classes are very Monday and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes will start July 8th and end on August 15th, at the Head Start Administration building.

Ute Indian Tribe Head Start Program, Providing comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.

FREE services for all children at 3-5 years old.

Program Options:

Full Day-parents must be employed or in a job training with no caregiver present in the home to qualify for full day.

Half Day – center based classroom.

Documents required to complete application process:

Income verification (W2 or 1040 Tax form 12 months of income is required)

ANNOUCEMENT FROM UNITAH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL:

Please be advised if you currently have a student attending Uintah River High School and or planning on signing your students up for school. We will need to have verification of your physical address for state reporting. Since URHS staff is out for summer vacation. You can bring a copy of your electric bill. Phone statement, etc. to the Education office or scan and email a copy of your Emeline@utetribe.com or to roneew@utetribe.com. We only need a copy of the front page that shows your physical address. I will make sure Principal Luck and or counselor Denny receive the paperwork when they come in.

Attention Parents/Guardians of Ninth Graders for 2019-2020:

Uintah River High School will have a registration day for all incoming 9th graders on Monday, July 15th , prior to this, please fill out the online registration form at urhswarriors.com.

Birth Certificates and Immunization records must be brought in on that day. If you have already filled out an online form, please bring the necessary documents on this day.

5TH ANNUAL BEARS EARS SUMMER GATHERING:

Hosted by: Utah Dine Bikeyah, Ute’s, Dine, and Pueblo People.

July 19-21, 2019. Kigalia Guard Station, Elk Ridge Road.

Tribal members are invited to come celebrate Native Cultures. FREE FOOD, Camping & Cultural Activities.

Bring your own camping gear: tents, camp chairs, water, foodstuff (breakfast & snacks), flashlights, etc.

The Kigalia Guard Station is 50 minutes from any gas station or grocery store.

NO dogs, ATV’s, vending, drugs or alcohol.

UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE SENIOR’S PROGRAM:

Ute Senior/Caregivers: Stretching Routine For Seniors, Senior Balance and Strength Classes every Thursdays, at the Senior Center from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.

Ute Senior & Caregiver Massages: from 10:30 to 11:45 am. Space is limited so book time slots for these days at the Ute Senior Center.

All Ute Caregivers are encouraged and welcome to participate.

Ute Tribe Senior Title V1, Grant-Meals & Grants-Transportation for 2019-2020:

The Ute Senior Center meal service is a regular nutritional meal program this is a benefit tribal members ages 55 years & over whom live within the service area. Meal service is from 11:30 a, to 12:30 pm. Monday thru Thursday, except holidays or tribal events.

REMINDER: most of the tribal senior staff have varied break times due to working thru lunch. The official tribal lunch hours: 12:00 to 12:45 pm.

Ute Tribe Senior Title V1, Ute Caregiver support program for 2019-2020.

The Ute Senior program is here to give support. We will be offering classes or events in coordination with other tribal programs. Respite care for tribal seniors during these times at the Ute Senior Center from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday thru Thursday, plus lunch is provided at the center from 11:30 to 12:30 pm.

Caregiver Requirements:

Must be non-working individual over 18 years of age and main caretaker to tribal senior. Or a non-working enrolled tribal senior whom has legal custody of grandchild.

Fill out all required information.

Must participant in activities.

Once again delivery drivers are having problems with Dogs, watch your animals every mishap is reported to the Ute Indian Tribe Executive Director.

UPDATE FROM PAINTED HORSE PROGRAM:

Little Ponies Day Camp: For youth that are NOT attending Summer School. ages 9-17 years old.

Whiterocks – July 2nd – 5th

Myton – July 21st – 24th

Fort Duchesne/Randlett – July 28th – July 31st.

Applications are available at the Painted Horse Office.

Activities include: Team Building, Crafts, Story Telling, Hiking, Hand Game and Prevention/IHS Presentation,

End of the week family Rafting Fun Day.

SWIMMING: AT VERNAL RECREATION CENTER:

Participants under 9 yrs. old will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dates: Thursday, July 11th, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Activities available: Play Basketball, Walk on Tread Mills, Climb the Rock Wall, Walk the Indoor Track, and Workout in Weight Room.

Updates from Kateri Tekakwitha Mission:

Weekly Mass held at Kateri Tekakwitha Mission every Wednesday at 5:00 pm, in Fort Duchesne, just North of the Blue Store.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Catholic Bishop from Salt Lake will be doing a Mass for the Community at the Kateri Tekakwitha Mission in Fort Duchesne, July 14th , 2019, Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
