REMINDER: FROM UTE TRIBE FISH & WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT:

The Fish & Wildlife Department is requesting that all Tribal Members, who received big game hunting permits, return their big game permits and kill information for the 2017 hunting season. This year the proclamation was changed to not have this mandatory. However, it is extremely important and necessary to account for the big game harvest. Your voluntary participation is greatly appreciated in this effort. I will be working on the permit distribution and harvest numbers through February and will accept all returned permit until February 9th , 2018.

Fish & Wildlife would like to thank those people who have already returned their permits.

UPDATE FROM UTE INDIAN TRIBE LIHEAP PROGRAM:

The Heating Program is ready to disburse application and except forms, come into the Ute Family Services lobby to pick-up an application.

The office is located in the Ute Family Services, pick-up an application during business hours Monday – Thursday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Below are the documents you must attached to your application:

*Tribal ID, or Driver License

* Social Security Card

*Income Verification of ALL Household Members (4current check stubs)

* Copy of Utility Bill (Electric, Gas, Propone)

* Name & Address of the Provider & Account Number)

* Social Security, SSI, Veteran’s Benefits, GA & TANF

* Copy of Check or Bank statements

If your service is with Rocky Mountain Powers, attach your invoice; the business do not release bills until you give permission.

UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE SENIOR PROGRAM:

The Senior Program is those 55 years of age and older and enrolled with the Ute Indian Tribe.

Wednesday, February 14th – Senior’s Valentine Day luncheon.

Monday, February 19th – Holiday.

Ute Tribe Senior Title VI Meals & Transportations:

The Senior Center meal service is from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Monday thru Thursday. Except holidays and/or tribal events.

Lunch fee: for those under 55 years of age, this includes all children.

The Home Bond meals are for those Ute Seniors over 55 years of age and unable to leave their home due to illness.

All Ute Seniors call in advance for Transportation:

Transportation scheduling is from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Mondays thru Thursdays. Except on holidays/Tribal events.

Regular pick-up times for lunch to center starts around 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

The Ute Senior WINTER Heating Program:

In the last month of the 2017-2018 Ute Senior Winter Heating Program, for all services an application is required and heating bill must be submitted by the individual. The program will end on March 1, 2018. (UIT Resolution 98-247).

As of October 2014:

The Ute Seniors Program has been without Senior Maintenance workers, Equipment & Funding.

Arts-Kids Life Skills for Youth, Empowering Youth through the Expressive Arts. Express yourself, expand Imagination, Explore your heritage with local artist and have fun and make new friends.

We’ll have Painting, Beading, Dance and Storytelling.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE UTE TRIBE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT:

The Education Department is having a UteTube.com Logo Contest. All art work to depict-Ute History, and photos/videos of the Ute Life. Our goal is to create and market the new online Ute History archive named Ute Tube.Com.

1st Due date: February 1, 2018, and the Final Due Date: February 15, 2018. Please bring submissions to the Education Department.

Winner Announced March 1, 2018.

 

UPDATE FROM NOOH-WYHGKYH NOOHVAYH (THEY ARE SPEKING THEIR LANGUAGE)

Ute Language Classes will resume every Wednesday evening from 5-6:00 pm. for the rest of school year.

Ute Language class is for the Ute Community of all ages and levels are welcome.

Elder’s workout sessions every Monday’s & Wednesdays, from 11:00 – 12:00, at the Senior’s

Center.

Zumba: will be Monday’s , Wednesday’s, & Thursday’s at the Head Start building starting at 5:00 pm.

Zumba: at the Myton Community Building, every Tuesday nights, starting at 6:30 – 7:30 pm.

Toning Class: Wednesdays, at Painted Horse starting at 5:00 pm.

Circuit Training: Mondays & Wednesday’s from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the Whiterocks Community Building.

Family Chef Series:  at the Whiterocks Community building, starting Tuesday, January 30th ,at 5:00 pm. this includes 4 family dinners and 4 quick cook-at-home meal kits.

Winter Community Cross-Training Classes:

COMMUNITY UPDATES:

Randlett Community Meeting: is schedules for Saturday, February 10th , not on the 3rd of February. At 2:00 pm.

On the Agenda: Up-coming Elections, Community building, and Budget.

Please plan on attending this important meeting.

 

Fort Duchesne Community meeting: is scheduled for February 7th at 6:00 pm. Meeting will be held at the Tribal Auditorium.

The main agenda: Election of Community Officers. This is only for Fort Duchesne community residents.

 

WHITEROCK COMMUNITY UPDATES:

Friday, February, 9th - Dedication for the Buffalo Head for the Community Building, at 12:00 noon, with luncheon being provided at the Whiterocks Community Building.

Friday, February 16th – Demonstration with Emergency Management will be held at 12:00 pm.

Dehydrated food will on the menu.

Friday, February 23rd – Whiterocks Community will be having a Whiteriver Band meeting at 12:00 pm (noon). Lunch will be provided. On the Agenda: Whiteriver Resentative, Ute PAC, and Drug & Gang Coalition. 

 

NATIVE AMERICAN FISH & WILDLIFE SOCIETY SOUTHWEST REGION:

Is now accepting application for the: 21st Annual Natural Resources Youth Practicum. June 18-22, 2018.

Location: Rio Mora National Wildlife Refuge, in Waltrous, New Mexico.

Come join us as we provide a “hands-on” learning experience in the field of natural resource management with combined classroom and field sessions that enables you to become involved in all aspects of natural resource management and conservation. The NAFWS Natural Resource Youth Practicum is open to all incoming 10th through 12th grade students. No cost to participating students.

February 16-18th , 2018. In Fort Duchesne, Utah.

Friday, February 16th : 3-Man Scramble – At the Hogan, $20.00 a player, Register by 6:00 pm.

Games will move to the gym after the High School game.

Saturday, February 17th : Games played at the Fort Duchesne Gym.

The big coach will be departing , Thursday, February, 22nd , around 10:00 am, from the Ute Plaza,  and returning Monday, February 26th .
