UP-COMING UTE TRIBE SPRING CLEAN-UP:

The 2017 Spring Community Clean-up: Thursday, May 18th, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Trash/Appliance pick-up, Bags will be provided, tire & appliance pick-up,

Control Burn – Call to schedule!

Special Projects Removal, K&K FREE Dump week, you take your trash to K&K.

A Barbeque will follow and T-Shirts will be given out at the concluding the Clean-up back at the Tribal Office at 12:00 (noon)

NEWS UPDATE FROM THE AIR QUALITY DEPARTMENT:

The Ute Indian Tribe and Bureau of Indian Affairs Environmental Departments will be hosting an Environmental Forum Thursday, May 18th 2017 has been canceled due to the Clean-up.

UPDATE FROM UINTAH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL HOPE SQUAD:

Come Run, Walk, Bike with the HOPE Squad’s Annual Hope Week Color Walk.

Thursday, May 18th, 2017, beginning at 12:00 pm. from Uintah River High School and ending at Bottle Hollow Marina.

The HOPE Squad of Uintah River High School, invites you to join us in our Annual Color Walk to wrap up our HOPE Week, Bags of colored powder chalk will throw in support!

Lunch at the end.

UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM:

Senior Exercising Classes: from 10:45 – 11:30 am, Mondays & Wednesdays.

Thursday, May 18th – Tribal Clean-up. Call to have your trash picked up, from Building Rehab., or any Community Presidents.

Monday, May 29th –Closed for Memorial Day.

Ute Tribe Senior Program: will be looking for part-time or seasonal Workers. more details soon, or it’ll be posted by the personnel department.

JUNE ACTIVITES:

Tuesday, June 6th – Annual Elder Recognition Day for 80 years & over, the gift presentation and we are planning a special programs and lunch on this day. There will be NO take outs.

Thursday, June 15th – Grandfathers/Father’s Luncheon from 11:30 – 12:30 pm. must be present to receive small gift.

Senior Meal Services: for 55 yrs age and over: Monday thru Thursday from 11:30 to 12:30 pm., except on Holidays/Tribal Events.

Home Meals deliver, this is for those who cannot leave their home due to illness, please call if you are not going to be home.

Ute Senior Transportation: is for 55 yrs. of age & over:

Don’t forget to call ahead to schedule for transportation from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm., Monday thru Thursday, except on Holidays.

2017 SHOSHONEAN LANGUAGE REUNION INFORMATION:

ANNOUNCEMNT: Contact the Ute Language program to be added to the list and fill out registration, and Motor Pool for those riding the bus. (Rooms and a small food stipend for those riding the bus).

If you are going on your own, transportation cost and rooms are on your own. Only a small food stipend will be given out by this program.

The Host Tribe is the Shoshonean Bannock Tribe of Fort Hall, Idaho.

UPDATES FROM PAINTED HORSE PROGRAM:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays are Elder’s Workouts at the Senior Center at 11:00 am

  • Tuesday, and Thursday, Zumba at the Head Start starting at 5:00 pm.

  • May 17th & 18th , & 23rd , Butt & Leg Workout, at the Head Start Building from 5-6:00 pm.

  • May 22nd – Circuit Training at Painted Horse from 5-6:00 pm

  • May 24th – Step Aerobics at the Head Start Building from 5-6:00 pm.

  • May 25th – Garden Box project day with a garden presentation at 10:00 am, at the Painted Horse Office. Application can be filled out at Painted Horse Office.

    there are two garden classes that should be attended to participate in the garden project. If you signed up last year, please stop by and fill out an application and we are looking for addition families to participate. This would be a good project to do with your kids/grand kids.

  • May 31st – Kickboxing at Head Start Building from 5-6:00 pm.

    ACTIVITES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE

  • June 1st – Will be our tie dye class starting at 5:00 pm, at the Painted Horse Office.

  • June 10th – will be the tie dye Fun Run/Walk starting at 5:00 pm. wearing your tie dye shirt.

  • June 15th – we have planned for a Men’s Health Day with presentations and two guest speakers coming in. This activity will be at Uintah River High School, starting at 9:00 – 3:30 pm.

  • June 16th - will be our Big Foot Trail Fun Run/Walk starting at 9:00am. The trail run is 7 miles and for those who are active longer than 6 months, in The afternoon will be the Strong Warrior weightlifting competition.

  • Starting in June there will be a monthly Food Demonstration at Painted Horse using Commods. This will be the held last Thursday of every month.

    UPDATE FROM ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER:

    Food Handler Certification Course: will be held Friday, May 19th, 2017. From 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. held at Ute Crossing Grill.

    Anyone who cooks, prepares, or serves on Tribal lands at restaurants, cafes, stores, schools, childcare facilities, or food stands. The public is welcome.

    The course is FREE and will cover the essential food handling information and practices necessary to prevent food borne illness. Food Handler’s Certification cards will be issued following successful completion of the training. The course will be presented by LTJG Adam Mannarino, Environmental Health Officer, Indian Health Service.

    *NOTE; Participants must attend the entire training to be eligible to sit for the exam.

    UPDATE FOR THE UTE TRIBE RECREATION CALENDAR:

    List of activities for the month of May and don’t forget to come sign-up your kids for youth T-ball and softball and for more information on activities. Rides to activities and designated areas for pick up locations contact the Recreation Department @ 722-2249.

    Tee-Ball: 3-5 yrs old, Jr. Babe Ruth: 6-8 yrs old, Youth Co-Ed Softball: 9-12 & 13-17 yrs. old.

    Pick up applications at the Recreation Office. Practice will start May 22th & Games will start June 5th at the Fort Duchesne Softball fields.

    May 16th – Youth Softball Deadline/Practice, All Communities Swimming at Vernal Recreation Center. From 6 – 8:00 pm.

    May 17th – Youth Softball Practices from 5-7:00 pm.

    May 18th – Youth Softball Practices 5 – 7:00 pm. & Girls Fast pitch games.

    May 22nd – Girls Fast pitch practice May 23rd – Girls Fast pitch games

    May 24th – All Communities Nine Mile Petrogylph Trip, Leaving at 10:00 am.

    May 30th – All Communities Dinosaur National Monument, Leave: TBA

    All Community activities will leave one hour prior to activity time that is scheduled at designated pick-up areas.

    UTE INDIAN TRIBE AND WIOA SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM 2017:

    Qualifications for youth Worker participants.

    HR, SUMMER YOUTH

    Must be an enrolled member of the Ute Indian Tribe

    Must be 14-21 years old

    Must be enrolled in school and provide transcript (report card)

    WIOA, SUMMER YOUTH

    Must be an enrolled member of any Federally recognized Tribe or a Tribal Descendent

    Must be 14-24 years old

    Income Verification (last 6 months)

    Public Assistance documents (if applicable)

    All participants will need to provide two forms of ID:

    Tribal ID, State ID, Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, or School ID.

    Youth participants attending summer school MUST provide documentation.

    If participants are 18 years or older they will need to submit a criminal background check. This can be obtained through the Roosevelt or Vernal Police department for an upfront fee of $15.00. Please submit background check and receipt with application for reimbursement.

    Any missing documentation will hinder placement.

    Both programs will begin Monday, June 12th through August 3rd, 2017.

    It’s first come, first serve basis.

    Participants must submit applications in person by the Deadline of June 1st, 2017.

    There is a possibility of running two sessions this summer depending on Tribal support & number of participants.
